Mixtmeat and FGLDN do play well with others!
I’ve been riding a lot with a couple of the guys from Mixtmeat, Anto has been injured so he has been restricted to filming, I got a bit of footage so we chucked this little edit together.
It’s just a bit of a fun edit, Jordan Smith shows he has barspins nailed as well as some nice lines. Part Time Gus pops up and shows he can still rip it. We had a good few sessions then ate loads of KFC drank beer smoked some tasty weed and knocked this edit out…not bad for a days work.
It’s with distinct sadness to have to inform everyone that the seemingly indestructible Chris Akrigg has badly injured himself whilst out filming for his next video.
Chris was attempting a particularly difficult line, as always, this time down a large cliff drop when he had the accident which has left him with a shattered leg and broken arm. Thankfully Chris was wearing a helmet and his spine was left untouched or things could have been even worse than they already are.
Chris was operated on last night and has had a metal rod inserted through his leg which each of the 4 pieces of bone will be screwed to. His arm was also pinned in the 4 hour surgery. He’s in good spirits this morning but will need all the support of his friends, colleagues and the biking community in general over the next few months to come back strong from this one.
We’d like to wish Chris all the support we possibly can with his recovery, everyone at CSG UK and Mongoose in the US is thinking of him and I’m sure there are plenty of other people who’d like to show him some support too and help him get back onto his bike entertaining us all with his incredible style as soon as possible.
Please show Chris some support on twitter @chrisakrigg on facebook http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=515053305 or on his website http://www.chrisakrigg.com where we’ll be keeping everyone up to date on his progress.
As if anyone needed a reminder of how Chris has entertained us with his unique skills over the last 15 plus years, here’s his latest work http://www.vimeo.com/20601448
Chris is an amazing rider & a good friend of ours. We know he will be back on his bikes sooner rather than later.
Fixedgearlondon is here cheering you on Chris!
You can feel the summer coming, the sun has been out and the days are getting longer. The new bowl in Clissold Park opened recently and its shit loads of fun to ride. It took a bit of getting used to but after a couple of sketchy moments I started to get it dialled. I’ve been on a grind and pedal/crank stall mission lately, I don’t ride with pegs and so the plastic pedals I use are getting trashed pretty quickly. Should I put pegs on….??? I was always dead against it but now I think I might be changing my mind…or maybe just some metal pedals…
It was good to see Gus back out on the bike…even though he ended up skating the bowl for most the afternoon. Here’s a couple of shots…
