Flames, graffiti & fixed gear. Fridays sprints at the Leake Street tunnel.
We had another event on Friday, this time it was an all out sprint tournament, straight down Leake St. tunnel. The event started at 7:30 but Mikey R got there early (in his fetching new road shoes) to make it nice for you guys:
We were greeted by some awesome fire jugglers from the circus which was cool, & their trance music, which wasn’t, but we quickly drowned that out with our superior boombox. Pristine road surface – check, intimidating music – check, now all we needed was our riders. Rob arrived with the prizes, premium rush style:
Mike M finished spraying this piece, changed his outfit then sprayed the start line on:
Mikey R took down the names, 16 in total, including the guy who worked in the tunnel & literally walked out from the wall behind us with a slack chained ratbike (& actually won his first race!). Premium Rob explained the rules (“go straight“) & we were on our way:
Lettie screamed the starting orders, Mike M called the winners on the line & the rest cheered the guys on.
No casualties until the last race where it got a little crazy. Charles (our previous checkpoint race winner) managed to get in a close 2nd place, a little worse for wear, but still smiling:
It was a photo finish for 1st place but our winner Dan nabbed it, just. Here are the results:
1st place: Dan
2nd place: Charles
3rd place: Dimitri
Here are the podium shots (with a suspicious looking graffiti Santa in the background) seasons greetings!
We’ll have another event early in the new year, until then Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year guys!
